Two Fast, Two Curious Birthday Theme!

I thought I would share my sons Two Fast, Two Curious birthday theme with you all! We did a vintage car/gas station theme with the tag line “Two Fast, Two Curious” and I loved it so much!

The idea for the tag line came from our Fast and Furious movie marathon we had last Spring! I thought it described our boy perfectly. I went back and forth on how I wanted to do the actual decorations, but finally decided on the vintage gas station theme. You could go several ways with this though…hot rods, racing, classic cars. Here is my Pinterest board where I gathered ideas before deciding.

Food Table

Below is the food table. I kept it simple: Spare tires (chocolate covered donuts), Dipsticks (chocolate dipped pretzel rods), Nuts & Bolts (pretzel chex mix). Then cupcakes with road/gas station sign toppers. SO EASY! For the cupcake toppers I just printed out little signs and hot glued them to lollipop sticks.

Most of the table decorations came from this kit I ordered on Amazon. I made the cake topper in MS Word and cut it out with an xacto knife.

The background paper is actually fadeless bulletin board paper by Pacon. I LOVE this paper and have used it for several photo shoots and to decorate both my school libraries. There are quite a few different design options. I’ve used this one which is weathered wood, a brick pattern, sky with clouds and log cabin look.

Party Favors

I used these pop up classic car food boxes as party favors! They were a huge hit. The little vintage gas pumps are a printable from the etsy shop Wendy’s Printable Party. She has AMAZING custom party printables for like every theme you can think of!

Drink Station

The drink station was set up on a Tool Box toy storage by Step 2. Found this at a thrift store for $10! There was motor oil (sweet tea) and transmission fluid (punch) and also down below I had an ice chest labeled Coolant that had waters.

Other Decor

Here are a few other items we used as decoration. I made the gas pump from a cardboard box, some printed signs and a shower hose I found. I printed out the Two Fast, Two Curious banner and strung it together with twine. (Don’t pay attention to the plastic sheeting blocking off our under construction living room! Haha!) And my dad is a collector of old oil cans so I raided his stash for decorations!

Photo Shoot

I had big hopes of doing such a cute mechanic photo shoot with this kid. My cousin and her husband collect gas station memorabilia, so it was the perfect setting. He, however was not interested. Life with a toddler I suppose. (*heaves a heavy sigh) I bascially just ended up chasing him around their property trying to capture shots while he was on the move. Oh and it was the end of June in Arkansas, so not only was I covered in sweat, but my phone kept shutting down, telling me it was too hot to open the camera app!

Here are some of the better ones. I do plan on doing some more shots that I saved on my Pinterest page, but who knows when I’ll get to that!
